Is the Henge Dock the way to go, or are there other brands that are "better"? iVANKY, a company specialized in audio and video cables, has just launched a new USB Type C dock for Apple MacBook Pro users: the iVANKY Docking Station. This plug-and-play dock features 12 ports, including four regular USB 3.1 Type-A ports, one HDMI output and one mini-DP port that you can use simultaneously up to 4K at 60Hz, and a lot more. The MacBook Pro 'Core i7' 2.5 15-Inch (Dual Graphics - Mid-2014 Retina Display) features a 22 nm 'Haswell/Crystalwell' 2. The docked vs undocked usage will be fairly even, so the disconnecting / reconnecting to the dock will have to be fairly straight forward/easy.
He will be using an external monitor, keyboard/mouse, document scanner, laser printer (though he may end up getting a networked printer), and possibly other accessories down the line.
The only system he has is a Mid 2014 MacBook Pro Retina 15", I need to find a docking station / port replicator for him, however as I don't play with the Apple eco-system much, I am not sure what is or is not the best route to go.įrom what I can see, Henge Docks seem to be fairly well regarded, I was going to suggest he go with the Horizontal Dock offering that they have. I have a customer that is currently is working in an office of which he has a desktop with all the normal accessories (keyboard/mouse/monitor/printer), at the beginning of the year he will be transitioning to a home office, and that setup will not be going with him. The LandingZone Dock for 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro is available for 199.
